The nutrition specialist role will be of a think-tank cum backbone for the field of sports-health nutrition, focussing particularly on sports/performance nutrition, foods for special health purposes, foods for special diets and weight management, and vitamins/supplement sectors. This role will enhance our positioning through the delivery of expert insight and exceptional client service. Our analysts are tasked with challenging our clients' ideas and thinking by providing fresh insight and analysis with impact building upon our proprietary data and analysis.

Responsibilities: • Assist in all aspects of the Corn Breeding program including seeding, transplanting crossing, and seed harvest in both the field and greenhouse • Complete selections in early generation material • Collect preliminary data on advanced generations at request of Plant Breeders • Coordinate and ensure the completion of all seed saving activities in cooperation with the Research Horticulturist • Maintain and organize the corn seed archive • Assist in inoculating and monitoring of disease trials, preparing disease cultures and performing disease diagnostics • Assist in special projects including screening, backcrossing and pathology under the direction of the Plant Breeders • Collect, update and analyze data under the direction of the Plant Breeders
This role might be for you if: • You have a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Science, Plant Breeding, Genetics, Pathology, or a related field • You have spent 3-5 years in a plant breeding field with hands on experience • You have a thorough understanding of genetics, plant pathology, and molecular techniques pertaining to plant breeding • You have experience working in a laboratory and are familiar with relevant safety practices, equipment and general techniques for plant pathology and molecular biology • You are familiar with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Access • You have a passion for plant breeding and genetics • You have a history of over delivering against targets • You have strong written, verbal, and listening skills • You can multitask and juggle projects at varying levels of complexity

Conduct laboratory testing of seed samples for the detection seed borne/transmitted pathogens; bacteria, fungi and virus.

Participate in conducting seed health testing following established written protocols, monitor all aspects of the test, that could affect the result, analyze and enter data, participate in inventory management of lab supplies and maintain lab in clean and safe manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Prepare growth media, buffers and stock solutions for the culture of microorganisms following specific written procedures. • Separate and process seed samples with an emphasis of maintaining sub-sample identity and consistency in sample preparation. • Conduct seed health testing in traditional assays and molecular based assays following established written work instructions. • Analyze results and ensure data entry into LIMS database system. • Plant and maintain test seedlings under controlled environment. • Monitor temperature in various incubators, refrigerators and walk-in chambers to ensure that the tests are conducted accurately and consistently. • Must be comfortable working in a laboratory setting governed by formal, written procedures that must be strictly followed. • Complete projects in a timely, efficient, safe and effective manner. • Participate in the inventory management of materials and chemical products (Anticipation and Planning). • Maintain laboratories in a clean, safe and organized manner. • Participate in monthly Safety and Training Meetings.

B.S. Degree in Plant Pathology, Plant Science or biology. 1 year working in a lab environment A working knowledge of plant disease and seed health testing experience on vegetable seeds will be an asset. This position requires an individual with excellent interpersonal skills, as they will be working with many individuals who have differing needs.
